Talking about impressive features coming to the first one the Nokia N900 does not disappoint packing a 3.5" resistive touchscreen of WVGA resolution (800 x 480 pixels) and one of the first widescreen 16M colour VGA display in the smartphone world with the only other being the Vodafone 360 H1 by Samsung; so you can imagine that the image quality, contrast and vibrancy are exceptional producing a fantastic legibility even in bright sunlight.

The QWERTY keyboard is certainly a point of interest on the Nokia N900's hardware. You will find that compared to the other mobile phones with this type of side slider keyboard that it does not open quite as far which in turn reduces the amount of space there is for keys. The way the Nokia N900 has dealt with this is to use two rows of keys instead of the usual 3 and placing two or even three functions to each hardware key mean the alt and shift keys will be getting lots of use.

The feel of the keys themselves is very nice. The press feedback and tactility really quite good allowing you to achieve a good typing speed with a little practice.

As well as the physical slide out keyboard the Nokia N900 has incorporated an on-screen numerical keypad so you are to make quick calls without having to pull out the main QWERTY keyboard.

Maemo 5 OS

As we take a quick look at the OS we see that it is fast, crisp and very clean. The navigation through the menus is particually each considering the many functions this phone performs. Tapping around the new OS we soon attributed the speed to the fast ARM Cortex A8 600MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX graphics accelerator and 256 MB of RAM.
