When you glance down at the very large list of impressive features of the Nokia N900 you know you are getting one of Nokia\\\'s best.
Talking about impressive features coming to the first one the Nokia N900 does not disappoint
packing a 3.5\\\" resistive touchscreen of WVGA resolution (800 x 480 pixels) and one of the first widescreen 16M colour VGA display in the smartphone world with the only other being the Vodafone 360 H1 by Samsung; so you can imagine that the image quality, contrast and vibrancy are exceptional producing a fantastic legibility even in bright sunlight.
Camera
The Nokia N900 is a equiped with a 5 megapixel camera with an image resolution of 2576 x 1936 pixels. A dual LED flash to assist in low light conditions is adequate when capturing close subjects but its range is pretty limited so don\\\'t expect anything special when shooting at any real distance
Camcorder
Like most of Nokia N900 specs the Video Camera looks pretty good on paper. WVGA (848 x 480 pixels) is one of the highest resolution Video Cameras among mobile phones after the 720p of the Omnia HD. Boasting 24fps framerate you would expect it to be pretty special but in fact its pretty ordinary with limited functionality and an inability to keep a consistent 24fps especially at the beginning of your recording
Slide-out three-row full QWERTY keyboard
The QWERTY keyboard is certainly a point of interest on the Nokia N900\\\'s hardware. You will find that compared to the other mobile phones with this type of side slider keyboard that it does not open quite as far which in turn reduces the amount of space there is for keys. The way the Nokia N900 has dealt with this is to use two rows of keys instead of the usual 3 and placing two or even three functions to each hardware key mean the alt and shift keys will be getting lots of use.
The feel of the keys themselves is very nice. The press feedback and tactility really quite good allowing you to achieve a good typing speed with a little practice.
As well as the physical slide out keyboard the Nokia N900 has incorporated an on-screen numerical keypad so you are to make quick calls without having to pull out the main QWERTY keyboard.
Maemo 5 OS
As we take a quick look at the OS we see that it is fast, crisp and very clean. The navigation through the menus is particually each considering the many functions this phone performs. Tapping around the new OS we soon attributed the speed to the fast ARM Cortex A8 600MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX graphics accelerator and 256 MB of RAM.
Multi tasking seems to be almost activiley encourages with each running application been shown in a gallery format ready for you to quality and with ease switch from one to the other.
Before we finish off the quick and brief review we have to mention the contacts integration of Skype, Google Talk and other VoIP services which have moved quickly into most mobile phones.
The other feature the Nokia N900 include:
State-of-the-art Mozilla-based web browser with Adobe Flash 9.4 support
Quad-band GSM and tri-band 3G support
10 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA support
Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS
32GB onboard storage
DivX and XviD video playback
Foldable kickstand
microSD card slot with microSDHC support
Built-in accelerometer
Proximity sensor
3.5 mm audio jack and TV-out
FM Radio receiver, FM transmitter
microUSB port (charging) and stereo Bluetooth v2.1
Solid audio quality
Kinetic scrolling
Great build quality
